New members

La La La welcomes new members of all ages who can sing in tune.

We particularly need men at the moment (tenors and basses) to balance a number of fine new female voices.

What’s it like to be a member?

La La La prides itself on its warm and welcoming environment and sense of fun. Social activities include occasional dinners, barbecues or petanque afternoons.

The choir’s repertoire comprises music of the French-speaking world, and includes works by all French composers, mainly in French, but also in Latin or dialect.

Do I need to speak French and know how to sing?

Some knowledge of French language is helpful but you don’t need to be a fluent speaker. Help with pronunciation is given by native French speakers and translations are provided.

You also don’t need to read music well as guidance is given to help you learn the music and improve your singing skills.

Membership fees

Membership is $105 per term, or $70 concession. Music is provided.

Rehearsals

We rehearse every Wednesday during school terms at a the Northcote Uniting Church, 251 High Street, Northcote, from 7.30 to 9.30pm. The choir focuses on learning the musical repertoire, developing members’ singing abilities and preparing for performances. After rehearsals, some or all of us usually head to a local café for drinks and eats.

Join us!

New members are invited to come along for two or three rehearsals to help you decide if you’d like to join the choir and if your voice is a good match. We do not require an audition.

We perform about five times a year, and you’re welcome to take part in performances as soon as you feel comfortable with the music. So, if you enjoy singing and are interested in experiencing the beauty of French music, please contact us.
